Witness recounts terrifying moments during armed robbery at AT&T store
MIAMI TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A woman who was inside an AT&T store in Miami Township Wednesday afternoon says she's thankful to be alive after men wearing masks walked into the store with a weapon.
Heidi Campbell estimates around 20 people were inside the store on Miamisburg-Centerville Road just before 1:00 p.m. She talked with FOX 45 within an hour of the ordeal to tell us what happened. Campbell says a man dressed "head to toe" in black walked in the store and started yelling, "get down, everybody down, this is not a joke." Campbell said at first she thought it was a joke, but quickly realized it wasn't. She and other customers got on the ground and waiting.
Campbell says she didn't see the men take anything, but was told they took cellphones from the store. As she and other customers were on the ground, staying still, she says someone said "all clear," and they got up. "Pretty scary, waiting there," Campbell said, "we did not know what was going to happen, what they wanted." During her interview with FOX 45 Campbell said her heart was still racing and said this was something she never thought could happen to her, "you thought, this could be my last moment."
Police crews from Miami Township and the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office are investigating the robbery.
