LEGO robots take over Wright State University's Nutter Center
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The Super Bowl wasn’t the only big championship going down on Sunday.
The Lego League Championships took place at Wright State Nutter Center on Sunday.
This was the 17th time the Nutter Center has seen Ohio First’s LEGO League Championship Competition.
The top 60 teams of kids from 4th to 8th grade came to put their robotics skills to the test.
Ohio First’s LEGO League Partner Brenda Ronnebaum said that the students were judged on much more than what they bring to the competition floor.
“The teams are competing on a competition floor our here,” said Ronnebaum, “but yesterday, over in the college of engineering, they were judged on their research project, their core values in teamwork, and their robot strategy and design.”
There was also a junior competition for kids in kindergarten through 4th grade, as well as some high school kids showing off their robots to the younger students.
