WSU Softball splits DH with IUPUI


The Wright State softball team opened up their weekend series by splitting a conference doubleheader with IUPUI at the WSU softball field. They won the first game of the night 1-0, but fell in the second game 6-5 to the Jaguars in two very tightly contested games. The Raiders go to 9-17 on the season, and 3-2 in conference play.

Game one was a pitcher's duel between WSU's Ashley Sharp and Megan Overton of IUPUI. Both pitchers were very dominant, but it was Wright State that found the lone run of the game and in the end, earned a hard-fought victory. The only run of the game came in the first inning as Macey Gunther singled to allow Honnah Susor to score. Susor had two doubles on the game, while Madison Mills and Gunther both added a single each. Sharp struck out three batters in a complete game shutout, and picked up her sixth win of the season.

In game two, both teams found their offensive rhythm, but the Jaguars ousted the Raiders in a very close matchup. For the Raiders, Madison Whitaker, Jordan Kennaw, and Kaitlyn Skinner had two hits and one RBI each. Lauren Deitrick added an RBI, as well Kelly Dillow with an RBI single. Susor and Rebekah Lenos both added a hit, a walk, and a run. Ally Russell pitched 4.2 innings and gave up five runs, but only two were earned. Jordan Kennaw finished the game pitching 2.1 innings and gave up one run and took her first loss on the season.
