Two more Raiders are heading to the Major Leagues
FAIRBORN, OHIO (WRGT/WKEF) -- Wright State sure has the right stuff. It's day three of the MLB draft, and Raiders continue to make their big league dreams come true with two more going pro.
Ryan Weiss went to the Diamondbacks in the 4th round on day two, and on day three the Dodgers chose righty Caleb Sampen with pick 614 in the 20th round. He was a spotless 5-0 for the Green and Gold this season. Like Weiss, he was named Horizon League Freshman of the Year in his first season with the University. He's a red-shirt sophomore who still has eligibility, but the school expects him to leave for the pros.
Raider slugger Gabe Snyder was selected by the Twins in round 21 pick 634. The Horizon League Player of the Year spent the 2018 season destroying Horizon League pitching. He hit .359 with 15 homers, and broke the Wright State record for career dingers and RBIs. The big first baseman was also named Horizon League Freshman of the Year his opening season.
