Svoboda leaving UD, Flyers with 2 open scholarships for next season
DAYTON -- University of Dayton Flyers freshman Matej Svoboda is leaving the program after one season to return home to the Czech Republic to play professionally.
The 6'7" forward played in 28 games this past season averaging 11.4 minutes per game scoring 2.2 points per contest with a career high of 9 points against Akron.
Svoboda was initially recruited by Archie Miller's staff and committed to the Flyers in February 2017. He signed with UD in May of 2017 despite not yet meeting new head coach Anthony Grant in person.
Svoboda becomes the second player to leave the program after this season joining Wayne grad Xeyrius Williams who announced his plan to transfer earlier in March.
Dayton will have two open scholarships for next season.
