DAYTON -- Ron Hunter makes his return to UD Arena when his Georgia State Panthers take on the Dayton Flyers Saturday at 7 p.m.

"I'd be lying to you if I said this is not big or special for me," Hunter said. "This is special because this is home."

Hunter grew up in West Dayton before starring at Chaminade-Julienne High School. He then joined forces with fellow Dayton native Ron Harper at Miami where they compiled an 81-30 record over their four years including three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament.

It was also during his time at Miami that Hunter went head-to-head against Flyers head coach Anthony Grant. The Flyers and RedHawks split the six games during their three year overlap.

"He never thought he fouled me," Harper said of Grant. "He fouled me all the time."

"When they would beat us he would have a pretty gloaty look," Grant said.

"Yeah, I still do and tell Anthony if we happen to win the game I'm still going to have the gloaty look," Hunter said with a laugh.

Hunter says he purchased 150 tickets to Saturday's game for friends and family.
