A massive piece of potentially life-saving technology called The Kraken has been unleashed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

The technical name is Disorientation Research Device, but Naval Medical Research Unit housed inside the base affectionately calls it The Kraken.

Mathematicians and physicists plot scenarios and The Kraken replicates them with one to two people inside a cockpit located inside the center of the device. Some of the tests are made to test human limits so researchers will have a better understanding on how to prevent tragedy in the field.

Watch how the device works in this video provided to us by Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.
