Driver charged after dump truck strikes woman pushing baby in stroller
ARLINGTON, Va. (WJLA) — Authorities have charged the driver of a dump truck that struck a woman pushing a baby in a stroller in Arlington on Thursday.
63-year-old John Washington, of Silver Spring, has been charged with reckless driving and failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, according to the Arlington Police Department.
Police said the woman, the mother of the child, was pushing a stroller in the area of Lee Highway and Fort Myer Drive in the Rosslyn neighborhood of Arlington around 9:26 a.m. when she was struck by the dump truck.
According to police, the woman was transported to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The baby in the stroller was not struck.
Police were on scene to investigate following the incident.
