Video: Passenger fights with RTA bus driver
DAYTON, Ohio (WRGT/WKEF) -A RTA bus driver was assaulted by a passenger riding on the bus Thursday evening. There's video of the fight between the RTA bus driver and a passenger, where it shows the passenger hitting the bus driver in the face.
The two began tussling on the ground and 911 was called immediately by a remaining passenger on the bus.
"It’s a fight between a bus driver and a man," said the 911 caller.
The passenger was originally picked up on the corner of Cornell and Kipling on bus number 9.
According to the police report, when they were heading downtown, the passenger became disorderly and started disturbing two young women.
The police report said the driver told the passenger to stop bothering the ladies or he would have to get off the bus. Once the bus arrived downtown, the passenger stood up and started arguing with the driver.
The bus driver pulled off to the side of the road while the passenger walked toward the front of the bus saying he was going to hit the bus driver. The bus driver told the passenger to get off the bus.
Then the passenger punched the bus driver in the mouth. The bus driver pushed the man off the bus and they began fighting on the ground.
The bus driver yelled for passengers to call 911.
"He’s light skinned, he’s got lots of tattoos, he’s got braids. He’s got all white on, with some white and grey Jordans," said the 911 caller.
After the fight, the man got up and ran away through an nearby alley. When Police arrived to the scene they searched for the man but did not find him. The bus driver is now on paid administrative leave.
