TROTWOOD, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A fiery crash in Trotwood Thursday morning started after police say two women shoplifted from Wal-Mart in Englewood.

Police were called a few minutes before 11 a.m. to the Wal-Mart on Hoke Road in Englewood. Officers stopped the suspects and the male driver got out. While officers were talking to the man, police say one of the women jumped into the driver's seat and sped off.

Another officer chased after the car down State Route 49, but called off the pursuit after it was deemed to be too dangerous. Shortly after, police said smoke was spotted over the Lowe's in Trotwood. The vehicle the women had driven away in was found crashed in a ditch off of Salem Avenue and was on fire. Police said when officers arrived, the women had taken off.

The man who was initially driving the vehicle has been arrested on an unrelated traffic offense. Police are now working to identify the two women.
