MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office has released the areas it will be conducting OVI checkpoints Friday night.
The checkpoints will be in Washington Township and will begin on Austin Pike at Success Lane from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. The second location will be on State Route 725 near Paragon Road from 9:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.
In 2018 deputies made 42 arrests for impaired driving, 18 of those involved crashes in the areas where tonight's checkpoints are being conducted. So far in 2019, deputies have made 6 arrests for impaired driving, four them involved traffic crashes. In addition to the checkpoints, the OVI Task Force will be conducting saturation patrols throughout the county. The ultimate goal, deputies say, is to save lives by removing drivers who are impaired from the roads.
