1 dead in wrong-way crash in downtown Dayton


DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Dayton Police say a crash that left one person dead in downtown Dayton was the result of a wrong-way driver.

Police were called to the crash on West 5th and Perry Street just after 9:15 Tuesday morning. The area was shut down for more than an hour as investigators worked to reconstruct the scene.

According to police, the driver of a red SUV was going the wrong way on West 5th Street and hit a silver vehicle, which then hit a pole.

The person who was killed has not yet been identified as family is notified.
