OSP: Driver didn't hit the brakes before deadly crash with semi

Authorities investigate fatal collision involving semi in Miami County (WKEF/WRGT)

TROY, Ohio (WRGT) - Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say a man has died after crashing this morning on the I-75 north. Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol identify the man as Brandon Bark,20, of Troy.

The crash happened 3 a.m. near exit 74 on I-75 north, just before the construction zone. Troopers say traffic had stopped due to construction, but Bark, who was driving a pick-up truck didn't and slammed into a semi. Troopers say the Bark was going 70 miles per hour when he hit the semi. "We can tell just by the evidence at the scene that there was no braking involved," said Lt. Joseph Gebhart with Ohio State Highway Patrol. "At the very last minute he tried to swerve to avoid the trailer but struck the trailer at speed."

Gebhart believes Bark was distracted in some way. We have learned the driver is a male in his 20's from the Troy area.

All lanes on I-75 northbound were shut down after the crash. Around 5:45 a.m. the far left lane opened, but was shut down again so tow trucks can remove the damaged pick-up.
