CLARK COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The Clark County Sheriff's Office is warning residents of a phone scam where the caller is posing as the sheriff and deputies from their office.

Deputies say the male caller identifies himself as the sheriff of Clark County and then asks for donations to the department. Investigators say the number the caller is using (937) 540-0041, is a spoofed number out of Belgium.

The department wants to remind residents that deputies or the sheriff will never call to ask for donations. They also say residents should never give personal or banking information to a caller. If you receive a call from this number, you're asked to call the Clark County Sheriff's Office at (937) 328-2560.
