DAYTON (WKEF/WRGT) -- Today (Aug. 27), thousands of people gathered in downtown Dayton for the fourth annual Rally 4 Recovery.

The event is put on the FOA, Families of Addicts. It's a local organization that strives to reduce the stigma of addiction and ultimately help end the opioid epidemic.

Fox 45 was a proud sponsor of the event.

The rally brought together people who are currently in recovery and their families.

One of the biggest parts of today's event was the balloon launch. FOA released hundreds of balloon in red, yellow and white. Each color signified a person's journey battling addiction.

Red represents those still struggling with addiction, yellow is those in long-term recovery, and white is for those who have passed away.

Everyone who attended had access to dozens of resources to help fight addiction.
