MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Deputies in Montgomery County are warning residents about a new phone scam where the caller leaves a very disturbing message.

The caller, whose voice sounds like a robocall says for the victim to take the call seriously, saying it's not a joke or scam.

"My people are following you for a few days," the voice says, "maybe you noticed my people on the streets. Do not think of contacting police or even telling anyone, otherwise I will kill you and extend it to your family."

The scammer then demands $10,000.

Montgomery County deputies say if you receive a call like this to hang up immediately and call police.
