HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The first day of school can be magical for kids, meeting their teachers, getting settled into their classroom and visiting with their friends.

But for students in Morgan Kurtz' class at an Ohio elementary school, the magic is real. Kurtz spent about 100 hours over the summer preparing her classroom, transforming it into a scene out of the Harry Potter novels.

Kurtz, who grew up reading the Harry Potter series, made most of the decorations by hand. The Marauder's Map, which hangs outside of her classroom was hand drawn and painted, "which took a lot of time and a lot of hand cramping," she said. No detail was left out of Kurtz' classroom, golden snitches hang from the ceiling, while one wall has been transformed into Platform 9 3/4, there's also a Sorting Hat. Kurtz shared the photos on her personal Facebook page, saying "We solemnly swear we are learning in here!"

Kurtz works as an intervention specialist at Charles Huber Elementary for 5th and 6th grades. She says a lot of the students who are in her classroom can get frustrated with reading. She says she wanted to give them a magical experience and bring the books to life, hopefully getting kids excited about reading.

She chose Harry Potter because the series is what made her realize she loved reading. Kurtz said she'll do whatever she can to help instill that love of reading with her students. Kurtz used her own money to buy these decorations, if you'd like to donate to her class you can do so here:
