Dayton officer calls for assistance after armed suspects starts fighting him

Two people in custody after police respond on reports of a stolen vehicle in Dayton (WKEF/WRGT)

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A Dayton officer called out for assistance Tuesday night after a man with a gun in his pocket got into a fight with the officer.

That man was inside a house on South Wright Avenue, but walked outside when officers responded around 9 p.m. Another person had walked out with him, but so far police have not been able to track that person down.

After the suspect who was fighting the officer was taken into custody, police reportedly discovered that there were two stolen cars and drugs on the scene. Two people were still inside the house and didn't come out when the incident began, but eventually walked out and were taken into custody.

An officer on scene did say the only person who may officially be arrested is the man who got into the fight with the officer.
