AKRON, Ohio - At just 7-years-old, Tessa Puma is an inspiration. The Ohio girl isn't letting physical setbacks keep her from pursing her dream of dancing.

"I'm a fighter," Tessa told WEWS, she fights every day to keep dancing. Tessa lost her leg after a case of strep throat and flu led to a rare infection, doctors gave her a 20 percent chance of living. but she doesn't let the loss stop her. "I didn't think she was going to be able to walk," her father Matt said. "I thought she was going to permanently be in a wheel chair." But Tessa surprised everyone and not only is she walking, she's dancing and winning dance contests.

At first she had to use a walker, then a cane and now Tessa has a prosthetic way. Her dad says her hard work ethic has brought her to where she is today, "She has to work at everything harder. 10 times harder than anybody else."

Her favorite type of dance is hip hop and she hopes that other kids see her story and are inspired, "Just keep on trying your best!"

"She does all the hard work. We just give her the tool to use and she just hits the ground running an flipping from there."
