DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – The NAACP Dayton Unit held a town hall meeting on Monday evening discussing the possibility of some Dayton Public Schools closing.
The district currently has eight schools with enrollment at 45% or less.
Education Committee Chair of the NAACP Lauretta Williams said the community needs to work together for children’s educations.
“So the purpose of tonight is to come out and talk about your thoughts, your concerns or any issue surrounding the recommendation to close nine of our schools,” said Williams.
Low enrollment does not guarantee those schools are going to close, however the district would like a capacity of at least 70% in every building.
