Man being questioned in shooting death of hotel clerk identified
UPDATE: Fairborn police are questioning a man about the shooting death of a hotel clerk.
Andrew Day died after being shot at the Hampton Inn Wednesday night.
That man was taken into custody for a parole violation, but police are questioning him about that shooting. FOX 45 confirmed through the Fairborn Jail that man is Michael McLendon.
FOX 45 was at a Dayton apartment complex when he was put in cuffs and taken to the police station.
"I don't know why anybody would do that to anybody. He was working, trying to pay his bills like everybody else," Brittany Day said about her murdered husband.
The men who found Day told the 911 dispatcher they saw a car leaving the parking lot in a hurry.
"I think it was two young guys," the caller said. "They jumped in a car and drove away quickly when we pulled in but I don't know if..."
"Okay two young men drove away upon arrival. What kind of vehicle were they in?" asked the 911 dispatcher.
"Ah, ma'am, I don't know," said the 911 caller.
Day left behind his wife and six-year-old daughter. They stopped by the hotel about three hours before the shooting to take Day lunch.
"I'm glad I got to see him," said Brittany Day.
"And you got to tell him you love him?" FOX 45's Rhonda Moore asked.
"I told him I loved him and he told me he loved me," said Brittany Day.
Police sources told FOX 45 they believe more people were involved in the shooting so they're looking to arrest others.
