Teen wanted for Kidnapping, Aggravated Robbery surrenders following standoff
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - An 18-year-old is in police custody after barricading himself inside a Dayton home Friday morning, prompting a standoff with police.
Lt. Steven Bauer with Dayton Police said Dayton officers were called in shortly before 8 a.m. to assist Moraine Police with a warrant they had for the suspect. According to Bauer, the suspect, who has not yet been identified, was wanted for charges of Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery. Bauer said the suspect has fled from police in the past, so Dayton officers were called in to help take him into custody.
However, when officers arrived on the scene, police say the suspect barricaded himself inside the home in the 400 block of Oxford Avenue.
Police say due to the charges the suspect was wanted for are violent in nature, SWAT and hostage negotiators were called to the scene.
After about two hours, the teen surrendered peacefully. Lt. Bauer said the charges stem from when the suspect was a juvenile, he's since turned 18 and will now face additional charges with this case.
