More than 100 ODOT crews out clearing the roads
MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - As the Miami Valley wakes up to a blanket of several inches of snow on the ground, more than 100 ODOT crews are out clearing the roads to make your morning commute as easy as possible.
The crews are out across nine counties in the Miami Valley and have been hard at work since midnight. Just after 9:00 a.m., Montgomery County declared a Level 1 Snow Emergency but later lifted it just before 2:00 p.m. Preble and Logan Counties are also operating on a Level 1 snow advisory while Clinton County is on a Level 2. A Level 1 advisory means roads are snow covered and hazardous, drivers should use caution.
Since there are so many snow plows on the road today, here's a reminder for staying safe behind them:
- Give plows room, don't try to pass them
- Stay at least four car lengths behind plows
- Plows will also be spreading salt from the back of the vehicle
- A snow plow driver's vision can be limited, meaning you may see them but they may not see you
