DAYTON, Ohio (WRGT/WKEF)- The Molina Healthcare of Ohio held a baby shower fair at the Dakota Center for pregnant women and families with young children Saturday.
Molina Healthcare provided free diapers for the families that attended, in addition to other raffle prizes.
Engagement Specialist with Molina Healthcare Joanne Zahora said this event focuses on providing help for women and families in need.
"One of the major focuses is to reduce infant mortality because Ohio has the worst rate in the whole country, " said Zahora, "This is for women who wouldn't have baby shower otherwise."
Help Me Grow, Healthy Moms and Babies First, WIC, the Dayton Fire Department, Families of Addicts and Catholic Social Services were all in attendance to discuss a range of issues to help to families.
Senior Program Coordinator at the Dakota Center Quiana Bickham said the resource fair provides families with information and tips they might not have known of.
“This gives the mom’s the opportunity to come out and see what’s going on in the community. See what programs they qualify for and just to see what we have to offer.” said Bickham.
Blood Pressure screenings, blood sugar screenings and child vision screenings were just some of the services offered during the baby shower.
“I encourage the grandparents out here raising their grandkids to come because they can receive a lot of helpful information that will help them provide supportive services for their family.” said Bickham.
