Man to spend the rest of his life in jail for murder of Middletown mom

DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A man who shot and killed a Middletown woman while her six-month-old daughter was in the car will spend the rest of his life in prison.

Brandon Carr, 36, was sentenced Thursday to life without the possibility of parole. The victim, Brittany Russell, 29, was found shot t death inside her car on February 10, 2016. She was parked in the parking lot of a Dayton apartment complex, her infant daughter was also in the car but was unharmed.

Carr was found guilty on February 6 of this year for Aggravated Murder, Murder, Kidnapping, Felonious Assault, Possession of Heroin and Endangering Children.

Prosecutor Mat Heck commented on the sentencing of Carr Thursday, saying Russell was executed, "He then left the baby in the car with her deceased mother for approximately 12 hours, in below freezing temperatures. It is difficult to imagine a more cold-blooded murder."

Another man, Curtis Burdette, was a co-defendant was and sentenced on February 21 to 25 years in prison for charges of Involuntary Manslaughter, Kidnapping and Tampering with Evidence.
