Lifelong Dayton woman celebrates her 100th birthday
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Hazel Phibbs has seen a lot of changes in her 100 years. She was born before a lot of the everyday items we take for granted were invented. Things like the first radio station, the electric razor, traffic signal and television.
Phibbs is a lifelong resident of Dayton and today she celebrates her 100th birthday.
Hazel's family's shared photos of the celebration with FOX45, which included a cake, an Elvis impersonator and a shirt that reads, "I made it 100 years." According to her family, Elvis is a huge part of Hazel's life. She's a huge fan of 'the King' and has an Elvis cake that's uncut and in her freezer from her 60th birthday. Her family says Hazel wouldn't let them cut it because it had Elvis on it.
On top of being a big Elvis fan, Hazel also enjoys watching wrestling, her family says, and in particular enjoys watching John Cena.
Hazel's family also shared a photo of a special certificate she received from Dayton Mayor Nan Whaley that wished her a happy birthday. From all of us at FOX45, Happy Birthday Hazel!
