KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A worried neighbor whispered as she called dispatchers.

"I just pulled up, and there was a woman screaming very loudly," the caller said. "She was screaming, 'Help me, help me.'"

That call sent multiple Kettering Police units to Chatham Village Apartments on Scarsdale Drive. Officers were called to a domestic violence situation. When officers went into the apartment, a man and woman were fighting and police say the man, identified as Mitchell Simmons, 24, had a gun and then exchanged fire with officers. Simmons was shot and was later pronounced dead.

The officer has been identified as Andrew DiSalvo, 31, who's been with the department since 2009. DiSalvo is on administrative leave, which is standard practice.

Dash cam video shows multiple angles from four officers, who responded to the incident. In the video, you can see officers running into the complex, with their guns drawn. Minutes later, an ambulance pulls up and medics are seen wheeling a stretcher to the apartment.

The investigation is still ongoing.
