KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - This Saturday is the Annual Honor Flight Dayton 5K Run/Walk at Fraze Pavilion in Kettering.

This weekend marks the 3rd year for the event, which helps to support the organization’s goal of taking veterans on a memorable trip to see their national memorials in Washington, D.C.

“It’s really the best day of their lives. The veterans get the recognition they deserve. Many of these veterans didn’t get that recognition when they came back from the wars,” Honor Flight Dayton Board Vice President Diana Pry said.

The trips are provided at no cost to all qualified veterans, including meals, t-shirts, and disposable cameras to document their trip.

If you haven’t registered for the race, there is still time to sign-up.

Registration opens at 10 a.m. Saturday morning at Fraze Pavilion.

The race starts at 11 a.m.

Claybourne Grille will have a food truck on site to provide snacks and beverages.

ABC 22/ FOX 45 Anchor Adam Aaro is serving as the emcee host for the event.

    Registration is $30 per runner.

“Rain or shine, we will be out there cheering everyone on,” Pry said.
