Henny Penny employees help to feed thousands through "Meal Madness" event
EATON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – Eaton-based company Henny Penny helped to feed thousands in the Miami Valley Friday night.
The company packaged 34,000 meals to be distributed by the Foodbank in less than an hour, at what they called a “Meal Madness” event.
That amounted to 17 production lines with 220 people doing their part to process 5,500 pounds of bulk macaroni and cheese and create more than 5,600 meal bags, each containing 6 pre-portioned servings.
“They have a truck coming to pick up the meals today, right after the event,” Lester Wilder, customer quality analyst at Henny Penny, said, “and those will be taken back to the Dayton Foodbank distribution warehouse. The hope is to get some of those meals out into the community as soon as Monday.”
Henny Penny worked with The Outreach Program, which organized food-packaging events.
