Former Piqua officer arrested for OVI while on duty sentenced for reduced charge

    PIQUA, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A former Piqua police officer who had been arrested for OVI while on duty was sentenced for a lesser charge on Wednesday.

    Justin Augustine was originally charged with OVI after his arrest on October 27. On Wednesday, he was sentenced physical control of a vehicle while under the influence. He was given a $300 fine, sentenced to 180 days in prison with all but 3 of those being suspended and to probation, which started on Wednesday and will last for a year. Augustine was also sentenced for an amended charge of weapons under the influence.

    New video released of Piqua officer accused of OVI while on duty

    PIQUA, Ohio (WKEF-WRGT) - New footage was released when an on-duty officer, Justine Augustine, was arrested earlier this week. Colleagues responded to a call after police said he crashed his cruiser into a semi on East Ash Street. In the video, offers are asking how much he drank and if he was needing any medical assistance.

    Police released video of the incident after Augustine crashed into a trailer in his cruiser. Officers report finding a can of Four Loko at the crash site and another inside Augustine's personal vehicle.

    Augustine's resignation from the department was announced on Friday, November 2.
