Fire destroys a Centerville home, resident sent to hospital

WASHINGTON TWP., Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The cause of a fire that destroyed a Centerville home Friday is under investigation.

Scott Henry from the Washington Township Fire Department says someone called 911 to report the fire on Shawnee Trail.

When firefighters arrived at the home, they say a resident was already out and ended up being taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.

The front of the two-story home was fully engulfed in fire, Henry said, and firefighters used the ladder truck to fight the flames. This is known as a "defensive" approach, and is used for the firefighters' safety.
