Family honors local Marine for his service
MIAMI TOWNSHIP, OH (WKEF/WRGT)- A local man was honored Saturday for his service to our country. Family and friends of Master Sergeant Kevin Cochran threw him a special retirement dinner to honor his 23 years of service.
Cochran served as a Marine in Iraq and Afghanistan for special rescues and assignments.
"I was really surprised about today," said Cochran. "so, for my family to do this it was amazing . I give my hats off to the people who love me and care about me in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio."
Relatives decided to hold there own hometown hero ceremony because Cochran wasn't able to get a proper retirement ceremony in Japan, due to a scheduling conflict.
The Dayton native was also given a plaque from his fellow Marine.
"For him to recognize me for my job that I do on an everyday basis is awesome and definitely never forget this." said Cochran.
