Fairborn standoff prompted after man attacks wife with sword
UPDATE: Fairborn Police said Anthony Dyamond Sr. has been charged in connection with this standoff.
He's currently being held on $50,000 bond, and charges of felonious assault, tampering with evidence and inducing panic.
The victim, Dyamond's wife, was treated at a local hospital for her injuries after reporting he had assaulted her with a sword.
FAIRBORN, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A Fairborn man is in jail after police say he assaulted his wife with a sword and then stayed inside his home in a standoff with police.
It happened Sunday afternoon at a home on Grierson Place. The victim called 911 telling dispatchers her husband attacked her with a sword and that he was drunk. In the call the woman said she was bleeding and that her husband wouldn't let her out of the house, "I'm getting ready to try," to get out the woman said.
The woman ended up getting the keys to her vehicle and drove herself to the hospital, "ma'am you don't need to do that, we can get medics out there," the dispatcher told the woman. "I gotta get away from him," the woman replied to the dispatcher. While she was bleeding from a wound to her chest, the woman drove continued to driver herself to the hospital, "I gotta keep going," she told the dispatcher.
The woman told the dispatcher she locked the door when she left the home, and officers to "kick the door in, I don't care." The man was eventually taken into custody by police after a short standoff. The woman is being treated at the hospital.
