DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Hundreds of teachers and educators gathered at Sinclair Community College as they discussed reducing the achievement and opportunity gaps in the area.
The college teamed up with Learn to Earn Dayton for Making Connections: The 10th Annual Readiness Summit. On Friday, they specifically addressed early childhood education and the impact that family lives have on developing youth.
"We were looking at how we can make stronger connections with families, the families are our children's first and best teachers, especially in those early years, so we're asking ourselves as community leaders and organizations and schools, how do we help our parents be successful and how do we support them," Executive Director of Learn to Earn Dayton Robyn Lightcap said.
Keynote speakers this year came from the University of Dayton, Sinclair Community College and the Montgomery County Educational Service Center.
