Dog the Bounty Hunter joining manhunt for Shawn Christy

    MANSFIELD, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - Duane "Dog" Chapman shared he's joining the manhunt for Shawn Christy in Richland County.

    Wednesday, Chapman confirmed the Mansfield News Journal report that he would be heading to the Buckeye State to retrieve Christy.

    Christy is wanted by several law enforcement agencies for multiple crimes.

    Manhunt for dangerous fugitive underway in Richland County

    A dangerous fugitive is on the run in Richland County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Shawn R. Christy is on the run after he crashed a stolen truck from Pennsylvania on I-71 Sunday afternoon. Christy is wanted by the FBI, US Marshal"s Service and US Secret Service for multiple offenses.

    The journal says Chapman was contacted by phone from his Hawaii home by a friend of Christy's family.

    "I have a very hot lead," said Chapman.

    Chapman was already coming to Mansfield September 28 to talk about drug recovery.

    The Mansfield News Journal said Chapman has delivered messages to Christy to convince him to surrender.

    Chapman is expected to arrive in Mansfield September 27.
