Crash involving two semis on I-75 SB in Tipp City leaves one dead (WKEF/WRGT)

TIPP CITY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A crash involving two semis on I-75 south in Tipp City has left one person dead.

The crash happened around 3:40 Thursday morning at County Road 25A. Investigators with the Ohio State Highway Patrol say one semi hit the back of the other. That semi that was hit swerved to the left, hit the median and jack-knifed. OSP says the person in the semi who was killed is believed to have been in the sleeping area of the semi at the time.

The driver of the semi was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the other semi was not injured.

The passenger killed has been identified by the Miami County Coroner's Office as Ibrahimi Abdelmaguid, 49, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan. An autopsy is pending.

The crash partially shut down I-75 SB as crews cleaned up the crash.
