Cause of Kettering house fire that left 2 dogs dead under investigation
KETTERING, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - The cause of a Kettering fire that left two dogs dead is still under investigation, according to officials.
Kettering Assistant Fire Cheif Mitch Robbins said a neighbor called 911 after a postal carrier informed him about the flames coming from the home in the 2900 block of Kerwood Drive. That neighbor tried to get into the home to help save the animals, and firefighters were able to help get 1 dog out alive. Two others were found dead.
The occupant was not home at the time of the fire, but officials said they estimate between $10,000 and $15,000 in damage. There were working smoke detectors at the residence, and a fire investigator was on his way to help with the investigation of the cause.
