Actor in the Memphis Belle movie visits the Memphis Belle exhibit for the first time
DAYTON, Ohio (WRGT/WKEF)- The actor in the 1990 Hollywood movie 'Memphis Belle' visited the Memphis Belle exhibit for the first time at the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force on Saturday. Actor Matthew Modine explained his excitement over seeing the plane being restored and touring the museum for the first time.
“It’s such a pleasure to come out to this museum because of the size and scope. The history in these buildings, there’s nothing like this in the United States” said Modine
The Memphis Belle personally resonated with Modine because his uncle was a B17 pilot in World War II. Modine ,who played Capt. Dennis Dearborn in the movie wore his uncles uniform for the historic film.
“He said that once we put those uniforms on, don’t disrespect them” said Modine, when speaking about his uncle’s response to the film.
Modine got to sign autographs and meet with the fans of both the historic Memphis Belle aircraft and the classic movie. The Air Force Museum Theatre also screened the 1944 film ‘Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Forterss” for those in attendance.
