DeWine confident as he casts his ballot in Cedarville
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine was up early to cast his vote on election day.
DeWine is one of the Republican candidates running for governor. He announced his candidacy in June of 2017 at his home in Cedarville. "It's always good to get to Election Day," DeWine told FOX45 after he cast his ballot. For the past few days, he's been campaigning across the state, "it was good to get home."
As the campaign comes to a close, DeWine expressed his appreciation to his wife, who he said was the best campaigner in the family.
While the results won't be in until much later tonight, DeWine is confident he and his running mate, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted will be sworn in in January. He said Husted is a person who, "shares the same passions that I do, shares the same values that I do."
Husted is running against Lt. Governor Mary Taylor for the Republican nomination. Whoever wins today's primary will face off against the Democratic candidate in November.
