Lima Perry advances in Regionals after losing Asst. Coach in car accident
KETTERING, Ohio (WRGT) – It was tears of joy and sadness at the Boys Regional Basketball tournament. Lima Perry came out victorious against Fort Loramie one day after losing their assistant coach in a car accident.
The Commodores wore shirts to honor Herb Lane Jr., and had black stripes on their jerseys. The team was visibly emotional after the 52-50 win over the Redskins. Players rushed to the stands to hug the family of Lane Jr, and their Head Coach threw down a chair on his way to Lane Jr.’s wife. He embraced her as the crowd erupted. Lane Jr. is also the school's head football coach.
Lima Perry will be back in Kettering on Friday for a Regional Final match-up with Cincinnati Christian. The Cougars beat Tri-Village 49-42 to advance.
