Trotwood wins second state title
CANTON -- The articles were clipped and posted all over Trotwood's locker room after the Rams' 30-0 loss to Hoban in last year's Division III state championship game. The Rams completed to year-long goal to finish the job and win another state title Saturday night in Canton.
Trotwood linebacker Jayvanare Nelloms intercepted a pass in the final seconds deep inside Rams territory to seal the 27-19 win over Tri-Valley.
"I did this for my seniors," Nelloms said.
The Rams got 138 yards rushing from senior running back Ra'veion Hargrove, including a dazzling 41-yard touchdown run.
"It means everything," Hargrove said. "All the hard work we put in in the summer. We got back in the lab as soon as last season was over."
"These kids work hard," head coach Jeff Graham said. "They do everything we ask them. We started in January and these kids worked hard all the way through."
This is Trotwood's second state championship, winning the first one in 2011.
