VIDEO: UD Flyer Sam Miller arrested; facing assault charge for jail incident

GREENE COUNTY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A member of the University of Dayton men's basketball team was arrested in Beavercreek on charges of Disorderly Conduct and Underage Offense/Prior.

Miller is a junior at the university and according to court records, the incident he was arrested for happened on July 30. He has posted bond and will appear in court for his arraignment on Wednesday, August 2 at 8:00 a.m.

According to a police report from the Greene County Jail, Miller and another inmate got into a fight inside a cell. When a deputy asked what the fight was about, the inmate said Miller had urinated in the cell floor and wanted it cleaned up. The floor was disinfected and Miller and other inmate stayed in the cell. Later on in the overnight hours, deputies were watching the cameras to the cell and noticed Miller and the other inmate fighting. According to the report, Miller can be seen on camera walking over to the other inmate and slapping him. Miller will now also face assault charges.

Neil Sullivan, the university's Vice-President and Director of Athletics issued a statement about Miller's arrest saying, "The University of Dayton is aware of an incident, but cannot discuss individual student matters because of federal privacy laws. With all student conduct matters, the University responds in accordance with the University's Student Code of Conduct and other applicable standards."
