Dayton to play Hofstra in the 2017 Gildan Charleston Classic
CHARLESTON, S.C. – Another piece to the University of Dayton men’s basketball schedule fell into place on Wednesday when ESPN Events revealed the bracket for the tenth annual Gildan Charleston Classic, to be played Nov. 16, 17 & 19 at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.
The Flyers will play Hofstra in the tournament’s first round at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 16. The game will be televised on ESPNU. Hofstra was 15-17 in 2016-17, but returns four starters from a year ago. The UD-Hofstra game is the final game of the first day in Charleston. The other teams on the Dayton side of the bracket are Clemson and Ohio.
The other pairings in the first round are Auburn vs. Indiana State and Old Dominion taking on Temple.
Auburn has all five starters back and Temple also has four, while Clemson, Ohio and Old Dominion each return three.
The bracket-format tournament features 12 games over three days. The teams compete once per day, advancing with a victory. The two teams that remain undefeated will face off in the championship game on Sun., Nov. 19. Every game in the tournament will be broadcast by the ESPN Family of Networks, with the finals on ESPN2 at 9:30 p.m. ET.
