From 'toilet to tap,' company hopes you'll drink their recycled wastewater
Nothing can quench your thirst like a nice cool glass of water, right?
Would you change your mind if you knew that cool glass of water had come -- from a toilet? A California company hopes you'll answer yes. "Toilet to Tap" is the nickname given to the wastewater that's being treated for drinking. In Orange county, a plant purifies wastewater and pumps it back into the groundwater supply. As CNN reports, it's been doing so for about a decade.
The county's now working to spread the word, telling people the water's safe and clean for drinking. They even put the water to the test, giving it to some who had no problem giving it a whirl, while others weren't very on-board for giving it a try.
While Orange County isn't planning to actually bottle the recycled water, it's hoping to get people to accept the idea of drinking recycled wastewater.
