DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A local food pantry finally moves into their new building in Dayton, after they say their previous landlord forced them out.

FOX 45 caught up with "With God's Grace" Food Pantry as they got their new warehouse ready to help feed families again.

"It is very degrading and it’s very sad to see that our families have to struggle and feel judged because other people don't want them here," pantry founder Nicole Adkins told FOX 45's Kelly May in February 2017.

The pantry first came to FOX 45 for help in 2016, when their landlord threatened eviction because neighboring tenants didn't want pantry customers in their parking lot.

After our story aired, a donor gave the pantry a new, larger warehouse.

"It's going to be a bigger solution to families to be able to come and nothing's going to happen to them, they're not going to get their cars towed, they're not going to have any problems with anybody saying anything to them," Adkins said Friday.

Adkins said three months after the building was donated, they finally have their occupancy permit from the city of Dayton to move in.

A mission group from St. Louis helped them install heavy pallet racks to store bulk amounts of food.

They also have a walk in fridge being donated that will be installed at a later date.

Adkins said the new space will help them feed more people, because they have triple the storage space they had before.

"We'll be able to have them come in and set up the pantry right in the front of the building so they can come in and they don't have to be in the warehouse like previously," Adkins said about having a separate space for customers.

Adkins said now she is just waiting on the City of Dayton Zoning department to get their permit in order to let people in to use the pantry's services.

"We've got a lot of families that are calling constantly, wanting to know when we're going to be able to start feeding them," Adkins said.

Stay with FOX 45 as the pantry works toward a date for their first open pantry date in their new location, the corner of Springfield and Jersey Streets in Dayton.
