Wednesday morning commute could be messy with snow headed to the Miami Valley
MIAMI VALLEY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - With snow in the forecast, Wednesday morning’s commute could be messy.
ODOT trucks are out pre-treating roads and even more will roll out in the morning.
“I'm ready for spring, I’m ready for spring right now,” Miamisburg resident Jenny Miller said.
Miller is dreading her drive to work in the morning, but she's staying optimistic.
“I'd rather drive on snow than ice, I hate ice,” Miller said.
Either way, it's going to be slick. Back roads will be worse than main ones. ODOT will be out all night, trying to keep highways safe for drivers.
“Right now, we have some of our crews on 12 hour shifts,” ODOT spokesperson Mandi Dillon said.
Dillon says trucks are dropping salt, but they're also using a brine and agricultural deicer.
“It seems to have an immediate effect on the roadways and helping clear,” Dillon said.
Paving the way for your kids buses and anyone heading to work. If plows are out, ODOT says keep your distance.
“There is that tendency to want to be right behind them to feel safer, but we want to make sure people are giving them some space,” Dillon said.
Bad weather won't deter Keith Barnett from heading out early.
“I've got a big long list of things to do, can't put it off,” Barnett said.
He knows the snow comes with living in Ohio.
“I've lived here all my life, it's nothing new,” Barnett said.
Even though we're all used to it, we can still dream about spring.
“My mind's there, the weather's just not cooperating quite yet,” Miller said.
