The Longest Table encourages sharing stories and building communities over a meal
DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – All kinds of people from the Dayton community sat down at the table together for a community meal March 19.
The Longest Table Dayton started last October when hundreds of people turned up for a dinner on the Peace Bridge downtown, and now they’re working to have monthly community meals and gatherings all throughout the area.
The meal is a time and place for you to sit down with your neighbors to share stories and build a community. The University of Dayton Government Association invited Daytonians to do just that at the UD Central Mall, and even city commissioners turned up to show their support.
“When we can hear ideas and we can find that the issues in one neighborhood are really kind of similar to the issues in another neighborhood,” Joey Williams said, “it kind of lets people feel closer to each other and again break down barriers.”
