Team Tornado takes Miami Valley by storm to alert, protect and empower you
HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – FOX 45 is working to alert, protect and empower and empower you and your family by taking the Miami Valley by storm in spring 2017 with Team Tornado.
April 24 was a big day for the FOX 45 team, as Team Tornado kicked off with the first presentation at Monticello Elementary School in Huber Heights.
Meteorologists Mike Joyce, Jamie Simpson and Greg Bobos spoke with more than 450 kids to teach them about how to get prepared for dangerous weather.
“One thing we’ve kind of adopted as a motto at FOX 45 is that we’re going to prepare you, not scare you,” Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said. “We don’t want you to be scared. We want to give you the information you need to stay safe, and that’s one of the reasons that we’re here today.”
They explained the importance of having a plan, including a Safe Spot, once severe weather hits. FOX 45 spoke with one student who said his family has a plan in case of a tornado.
“We already set safety to go into the bedroom because it has no windows,” Destined Newberry said.
And if you and your family have a Safe Spot for severe weather, we want to see it! Snap a photo of you all in your spot with the Safe Spot sheet, and you might even see it in our newscasts. Just follow this link and click “Team Tornado” to share!
