Springfield Township firefighter accused of sex crimes against children
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) - A Springfield Township firefighter has been arrested on sex charges against children.
Jonathan Monroe, 23, faces charges of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition, sexual battery and rape. Earlier this month, police say Monroe showed up at the police station wanting to speak with officers. The alleged crimes happened while Monroe was a supervisor on the fire department's cadet program.
According to a police report, Monroe admitted to abusing four children. The victims are all currently between the ages of 15 and 17-years-old. Monroe said one of the victims was 11-years-old when the alleged abuse started, Monroe said he was 15 or 16. According to a police report, some of the alleged abuse had been going on just a few weeks prior to Monroe speaking with police.
Police interviewed the four victims who say Monore was their training instructor and cadet advisor while they were enrolled at the Cadet Program with the Springfield Township Fire Department. Monroe is currently in custody at the Clark County Jail.
