Pregnant woman killed in triple shooting, doctors save unborn baby boy

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX/WTTE) - A pregnant woman was killed late Monday night in a shooting that left one man dead and another injured, but doctors were able to save her baby boy, Columbus police said.

The child, delivered at 35 weeks, remained in a hospital in critical condition, homicide Sgt. Jeff Strayer said.

The shooting happened during an apparent robbery inside a home in the 600 block of South Hague Avenue around 11:45 p.m., police said.

The injured man also remained in critical condition, police said.

Investigators were searching for a silver SUV with bullet holes in it. The vehicle was possibly a Chevrolet Trailblazer, police said.

The woman killed was later identified as 21-year-old Marlazia Jones-Mattox, and the man who was killed was identified as 23-year-old Keith Brian Williams III. The man in critical condition remained unidentified Tuesday afternoon.

Police closed South Hague between Whitehead Road and West Mound Street for the investigation. No suspects were identified, however, detectives said they were searching for a silver/gray SUV that was seen leaving the scene.

These were the second and third homicides in Columbus this year.
